The Kāmoku Farm Program was born from the foundational work of cultivating cultural understanding, relationship, and kuleana to ‘awa as well as our kuleana to return this ‘ili ‘āina of Kāmoku back into cultivation as it has always historically been. With that foundation laid, our goal is to support ‘awa practitioners who are ready to grow this knowledge into opportunities that can nourish their livelihoods and Ala Kukui’s mission.

From ‘a‘a (rootlet) to ‘apu (coconut shell cup), this farm initiative will serve as both an agricultural revenue stream and an immersive, programmatic learning experience for the community.

Program Features:

  • Hands-on training in sustainable ‘awa cultivation
  • Cultural grounding in traditional ʻawa practices and protocol
  • Access to land and tools for practitioner development
  • Entrepreneurial learning: product development, market strategy, and business planning
